Free Background Remover is a small web tool that does one job: it takes the background out of a photo and gives you the full-size result without asking for money, an email or a watermark.

How it works

When you drop a photo, your browser makes a working copy (no larger than 4096 px) and sends it to our server. An AI segmentation model finds the main subject and returns a mask. Everything else happens on your device: the mask is laid over your original pixels, and backgrounds, outlines, shadows, the Fix brush, ZIP files and downloads are all made in the browser.

Why it’s free

Because only one step runs on a server, a cutout costs us very little. There are no ads on the site right now. If that changes, the tool stays free and the downloads stay full size.

Limits

• Files up to 20 MB; results up to 4096 px on the long side.
• Up to 20 photos per batch.
• If many people use the tool at the same moment, you may be asked to try again a little later.
