Your photos
- A photo leaves your device only to have its background removed. It travels over HTTPS to our server, which runs on Cloudflare’s network.
- The server keeps the photo in memory only while it computes the cutout, then discards it. We don’t save photos or cutouts, don’t look at them and don’t use them to train anything.
- Backgrounds, outlines, brush edits and downloads are made in your browser and are never uploaded.
Abuse protection
To keep bots from using up the free service, we use Cloudflare Turnstile, which may check your browser when you add a photo. After a successful check we set one short-lived cookie so you aren’t checked for every file. We also limit how many photos one IP address can send per minute.
Statistics
For each cutout we record the date, file size, processing time and whether it succeeded, together with a one-way hash of your IP address that changes every day. This tells us how much the service is used; it cannot be turned back into your address.
